Shaping the Future”—2025 International Laboratory Innovation Development Symposium (ILIS) Successfully Held in Guangzhou
The 2025 International Laboratory Innovation Development Symposium (ILIS), themed “Shaping the Future” was successfully held in Guangzhou. The event was guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and jointly organised by the China Certification and Accreditation Association (CCAA), and the Artificial Intelligence Industry Working Committee of the China Computer Federation (AIIC) and the Secretariat of the International Organisation for Standardisation Laboratory Design Technical Committee (ISO/TC 336). The Symposium also received collaborative support from the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in China (UNRCO China), the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the ISO Central Secretariat (ISO), and was hosted by Shanghai PINEN Exhibition Co., Ltd.


The Symposium brought together leading experts from international organisations and various countries to discuss key topics, including:
• Global laboratory frontier technologies
• The development of “Artificial Intelligence + Laboratory”
• Building quality infrastructure in developing countries
• The impact of climate change conventions on global industries
Distinguished guests included Jiangping WANG (member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPCC) and former Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology), Siddharth Chatterjee (UN Resident Coordinator in China), Xiaogang ZHANG (former President of ISO), , Jian LIU (former Chief Scientist of UNEP), Isabelle Vega (ISO Central Secretariat), Hushan AO (CPCC and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences), Yuru XIE (Deputy Director of Guangzhou Customs), Jiangkang HUANG (Second-level Inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology), Daning WANG, President of the Testing Branch of China Certification and Accreditation Association (CCAA), and Guodong HU (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China Electronic Information Industry Development Research Institute and President of the AIIC.

With over 50 topics covered—including advanced laboratory technologies, standards and specifications, industrial applications, and management innovation—the conference aimed to promote global laboratory technology innovation and development. The Secretariat of ISO/TC 336 played a central role in organising and shaping the event, helping to build an intelligent laboratory innovation ecosystem and advancing the significance of international collaboration in laboratory design and standards.
